Have you ever learned about "Crossbows" - what are they? Crossbow is weapon, which consists of risen bow that is limited on a standard that hits projectiles. This is also famed as bolts.
The Chinese previously old crossbows in the 5th century. This artillery chop-chop became from one of the heavy constituents especially during warfare - the Unpeaceable States geological period. Unremarkable other bows rely on the force of the archer whereas in crossbow has the pull of its have which is hit with the help of mechanical induction.
Mechanical trigger is steadying as at a time many a publishes can be made even without boring crossbowman. The crossbows became popular for hunting and royal entourages. At times passes there were few more advancements with the artillery like it was promoted with multiple-firing crossbows, which were employed for military campaigns.
The Chinese were experts with the realise of the crossbows. The betterment of crossbows was totally contingent on advanced bronze applied science that allowed cooks up to elevate it with the true machined trigger-mechanisms.
With time the crossbow has been clear-cut a lot and has been old widely during wars. It has been helpful in many ways during wartime as it is from one of the powerful weapons.
Evidence of usage of cross bows was found in the western civilization also. These weapons were popular in Ultimo and Greek and Romans in other times in Europe. At this time, crossbows were considered to be dominant and fatal artillery that was capable of penetrating any armor. It is said that crossbows found from Old china were capable to pierce numbers of layers of iron armor. In Senescent china the military scheme, primarily was defense mechanism and attack of walled cities of their conquest. Crossbow was thus an ideal arm for this strategy of them. Crossbow was valued for it capability to riddle with strong force and give a inevitable blow to their foeman.
In eleventh century during Chinese rule in china, cross bow is to Chinese as horse is to Khitan, the plus that always was discriminatory. In the field battles in china, their foot would have pike manpower with shields, row of archers and a row of crossbow servicemen. As the cavalry would approach, the crossbow workforce would shoot initially after pike men and bowmen. Job of pike manpower and archers was to give embrace to crossbow workforce, who were capable to have most of the legal injury in enemy lines.
As found by some researchers the crossbows from Chinese and Mediterranean guilds were assembly bows mounted horizontally to wooden stools or stocks. An arrow or a bolt would travel down a groove or through a notch in a stool, when it was shot. Common device found in both of them was a stirrup at the front of a crossbow. A soul can brace the crossbow with his foot while drawing the string with both his hands (this can be done, when in sitting position) or with a hook attached to his belt.
Commonly both these crossbows employed trigger to release the cocked string. Roman exploited a crossbow having a rotating nut held in place of a lever, while Chinese crossbows employed a system of hooks and levers. Both of these crossbows were separated by its firing mechanism. Historians believed that both these cultures were independent of each other. In short crossbow is an effective weapon since Quondam times.

WoW Dwarf Hunter?
Hey, I just made a new Character, a Dwarf Hunter.
I just wanted a Hunter for kicks but I hate the sound of Guns, they get anoying fast plus I think they fire too slowly. I don't even like the looks of a Crossbow, but a Regular Bow is pretty nice.
I did not make a Night Elf hunter because I hate the Teldrasil Starting Quests... even though my main, and most of my Alts are Night Elves, I decided to spice it up.
So I am a Dwarf... I know I should use guns because I get a +1% Crit Chance with them... but is 1 measley percent really any big deal at all? To me, it makes absolutley NO difference if its only 1%... but I could be wrong.
Should I get bows? Would it be worth it? (And yes I know I have to travel to Darnassus anyways to learn bows.. don't mention it)
1% crit is usually considered a big deal, so I'd say it's worth it to keep a gun.
However, hunters level so fast that if you really don't like a gun, a bow will do just fine. So it's really up to you.
(PS - Spec Beast Mastery for leveling...I find it to be the fastest way to do it, and it's a fun spec too!)

Using crossbows to hunt is now a popular outdoor activity. The laws have altered over the last few years allowing it to be easier to legally own and hunt with a crossbow.
The problem is that many individuals have no experience of using a crossbow before. To be a successful crossbow hunter and make clean kills takes some practice. But there is some basic knowledge that can improve your skills.
The following tips should allow you to improve your accuracy -
Cocking the crossbow: For continuous accuracy, it is essential to know that the string has to be latched at exactly the same spot for each shot, and this should preferably be in the center. You can purchase cocking aids to help you with this aspect. If the string is not cocked centrally then the bolt may fly wide of the target, which can be very dangerous for any bystanders. Some people choose to mark the string with permanent ink as a guide.
Using a Rest: Many hunters that use a rifle for their kills understand the importance of placing the rifle on a rest so that accuracy is dramatically improved; this also holds true for a crossbow. It is important to understand that the speed of a crossbow bolt is only ten per cent of a rifle, this means the bolt can be off target by as much as ten times when compared to a bullet. For this reason using a rest is even more important for a clean kill. There are many shooting sticks, tripods, and bipods available from specialist stores and websites. They are not so expensive and will drastically improve your overall experience.
Distance: Many first time crossbow hunters believe that their weapon is powerful enough to bring down a large animal at more than fifty yards. If you are a crack shot then it may be possible but for most people it will be very difficult. The bolt loses trajectory for every yard it travels. For example if it flies sixty yards it will drop by around forty eight inches, if travelling at 350 feet per second. Therefore it is important to get as close to the animal as possible. Usually thirty yards is the best distance as the shot will be more effective and you are still far enough away to not disturb the animal.
When choosing a crossbow it can be a great help to ask advice from people experienced with the sport. An informed choice will bring you better results.

crossbow bolt queston?
does a stronger prod draw need a shorter of longer bolt and does the stronger draws shoot more acurately with short bolts or not i have a crossbow that draws over onehunderd seventy pounds and want to learn
I shoot a compound bow. I have found that a longer arrow and or a heavier arrow shoots more accurate.I believe a cross bow would be the same. Be careful not to shoot to light of bolt, or at least don't shoot a bolt that is to weak spine wise or you may get hurt.

SKS markings and worth?
I have a Russian SKS 1954, has the same number stamped all over it including the stock. Also on the stock above the serial number are a group of X's with looks like a number 1 in the middle. Anyone know what this means?
Also, someone had offered me $400 for it. The wooden stock is in exc condt. numbers all match. It has a triangle with arrow if that helps.
Also have a draganov stock, extra 30 rd mag and scope. Is it worth it?
Well is it star or triangle? Russian ones are more sought after SKS's. Well early Norincos and paratroopers too. But what arsenal is it from? Tula's (arrow in a star) generally go for more than ishkevek (arrow in a triangle and I'm sure I spelled the arsenal name wrong).
An average Tula will run $400. But that was before the election. You could add a couple hundred to that and maybe get away with it. Paratroopers and ones that have passed an armorers inspection go for more. The one I have has and doesn't have the import etching. The others go for close to that, around $350. But you could get more right now. The gun rush is fading but still has its mark on commie caliber rifles. Best to leave the gun original. And those 30 round sks magazines are known to be horribly unreliable.

Hooked on carbs
Too much carbohydrates can spell disaster to health and well-being.
With the development of the new technology, we are attached to various materials. We have found that there are many available choices to the same goods with different making materials in our daily consuming. So it is the same with that of industrial process.
Today, let's have a look at the arrow shafts made from different materials and make a simple compare from their respective advantages and disadvantages. The compared materials are aluminum, wood, composite and fiberglass.
It is common to find an arrow shaft made from aluminum as its easy access and competitive durability. But as the composite arrows are made from aluminum wrapped with carbon, they prevail over the aluminum shafts on the aspect of durability. For the shaft made from wood and fiberglass, it is their shortage, especially the fiberglass shafts. If you do not take them carefully, you would pay for your carelessness.
Considering their results of use, composite shafts stand out for its perfect speed. As the aluminum shafts can be used with interchangeable arrowheads, it is more favorable than shafts of other materials. And the consistent manufacturing makes the shafts of aluminum and fiberglass available for different weights and sizes. Wood is naturally inconsistent, so the resulting arrows won't be much perfect.
Referring to the price, the wood takes great advantages, I suppose. It is the cheapest material available. It is good for the beginners as you can pay little while learning. And the aluminum and fiberglass are a bit higher. Of course, the most expensive one is the one from composite shafts as its producing process and methods. In brief, we have done a little acknowledge of the arrow shaft types. It is difficult to taste all. Each type holds its strength and weakness. Thus, it makes difficulties when we are making the decision to choose the best arrow shaft. In fact, the most proper is the best. At this moment, maybe it is a good chance for the future arrow shaft manufacturers. They had better try their best to find a proper material which balances all the aspects. We do believe it would come true one day as the rapid developing technology.

I need help buying archery arrows as a gift
I want to buy my BIL arrows as a b-day gift. He got a bow last year and my sis says he needs some new arrows. He is very novice - purely recreational shooting at targets set um in the yard. Neither of us knows anything about arrows. She found one of his old ones and measured it - it is 83cm long and 6mm wide. Does anyone know if I need to get exactly the same thing for them to work with his bow? I know they can be made out of different material wood/aluminum right?
As he is a novice she thought he would probably prefer more cheaper ones than few higher end ones - Anyone got any advice? I want to make sure I give him something he can use.
Thanks!
You're best off to get the exact lenght, because they were likely cut to fit him and his bow. You shouldn't be able to find wooden ones, but if you do, stay away from them. They are for low powered bows.
No need to get two kinds, really, as they would shoot differently, and he needs consistent performance to get good at this. Just get some high quality aluminum ones, and don't spend the extra money on the carbon fiber type.
