Golden games for archers
Imagine you're standing on the torrent of a castle and shooting an arrow into mist ten thousand feet below you. Sound like medieval times? Try last month when the World Field Archery Championships were held in the German forest village of Dahn.
archery.. can i shoot FOBs through whisker biscuit arrow rests?
No way possible. You have to use a drop-away rest. And be a little leary of those u-tube video's showing how great the FOB is. Their only purpose is to sell the product and truth in advertising is the least of their concerns. Get on the net and check out the thousands of tournaments held yearly that pay out millions of dollars to the winners- and none shoot the FOB. When money is on the line the product that produces the best results will be used.
Things to Consider When Choosing Compound Bow Arrows
Archery is a sport that not many people play but when you get your hands on a set of bow and arrows and you start to shoot a target, you will find it very exciting and challenging.
It is important to have an understanding of the sport you participate in and archery is no different. It goes without saying that you should know the basic rules and it helps to know how it works. It is important to use good quality supplies where possible as you will generally see better results. You can save yourself some money by looking at used compound bows before buying brand new.
There are a few different kind of arrows you can get and some people will prefer one type over another. There are a few things that you should know when you look for arrows for compound bows. You should bear in mind the following.
No matter how good you are it is important to understand that your arrows must be straight. Take a moment to look for slight curves after a few shots with them. These minor defects can affect your arrows' performance. If the arrows are not straight, you would not be able to hit the target.
They are made of several different types of material. Wood, fibreglass, aluminium, and carbon are some of the most commonly used. Of course, each one has their own features and benefits over the others. For example, aluminium are excellent all round arrows and are quite lightweight. Fibreglass is a bit heavy but they are more durable than the others. In choosing the right material, you should first consider your needs in archery.
For example, wood arrows although they are not very strong are good to use while in training whereas you might want something more durable for competitions. Aluminium arrows are often considered one of the better arrows as they are good all round so you might want to consider starting with them if you are unsure. They will also last you quite a while so you can get used to handling them for the first time.

Can I carry around a bow and quiver of arrows, but not shoot them?
Ok, I want to have pictures taken of myself in this costume, but it has a bow and arrow. This got me wondering.
Is it legal to carry around a bow and quiver of arrows, (but not shoot them) in Edmonton and/or on private property? Not shooting the bows at any animals, no worry.
I looked around a lot before asking. Thank you for your trouble, it's much appreciated!

They should know the laws concerning carrying bows/arrows in public for your region/area -- or at least where to go and/or who else to contact for the information. They'll also have information on archery stores, ranges and organizations in your area.

They "just happen" to include archery in their activities.

Empire of the Comanches
Although much has been written about the Comanche wars of the 19th century, S.C. Gwynne focuses on the saga of Cynthia Parker, a young girl kidnapped by the Penateka band of Comanche from her home near present-day Fort Worth and taken to live among the Indians for many years.
Well I have made my own short-bow. I've started to make my own bows too. I have the shaft which is a thin dowel rod and I have feathers in the back, but I can't seem to find the right thing to use for the arrow heads. Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas?
Flint or petrified wood, obsidian, even glass. (Obsidian is volcanic glass) When you first start flint-knapping, I would suggest that you start by using glass until you get the technique down fairly well.
I have a small collection of points which I found in Arizona and New Mexico. Most of them are made from petrified wood. Some of them are beautiful.
BTW, check eBay for points. You can buy them quite cheaply.
